Another anniversary

Yesterday I celebrated having my DSLR for one year... by taking the lovely donation gifted me by the almighty K-Rudd and ordering a macro lens. Woohoo! In honour of this occasion I thought I’d post a few more poladroids of photos I’ve taken over the past 12 months and make a promise to myself to put some extra effort into carrying my camera with me so I can practice, practice, practice (and yes, move on to the fully manual setting). Here’s to many more years of happy photography!

100 things about me

1. I like piña colada… and getting caught in the rain. No really, I do.
2. I always set my watch at least 5 minutes ahead of time.
3. I talk in my sleep. Sometimes I hear myself doing it but I can’t wake up.
4. I love blue cheese. The stinkier the better.
5. I have one sister. She is 8 years and 2 days younger than me.
6. I have a thing for Calvin Klein perfumes.
7. I am highly risk averse.
8. I pop pimples. I can’t NOT do it.
9. I wore braces on my teeth for 14 months as an early teen.
10. Baby animals make me melt. Especially kittens!
11. I have struggled with my weight my entire life.
12. I was School Captain (Class President).
13. I have been in love only once.
14. I’m still in love.
15. I think it would be cool to own a yacht. The Boy agrees.
16. I wear contact lenses or glasses. Mostly contact lenses.
17. I dream. A lot. To the point that it disturbs my sleep.
18. I like the smell of petrol and xylene based markers.
19. The only work I have ever had has been some form of teaching.
20. I contemplated being a Podiatrist but I hate feet.
21. I would like to write a book someday.
22. I LURVE potatoes. They're just so versatile.
23. Flowers bring me joy. Especially lilies, peonies, orchids, roses, magnolias, dahlias and ranunculus.
24. I enjoy purchasing things but have a fear of being in debt. As a result I save THEN spend.
25. I didn't get my first credit card until I was 28.
26. I would like to travel to all continents before I die. So far I have covered Australia, Asia and Europe.
27. My Lucky number is 27.
28. I have blue eyes, dark blonde hair and a pasty white complexion.
29. I value the institution of marriage.
30. I am an agnostic evolutionist and surprisingly spiritual.
31. I have a pierced bellybutton. It looked way cooler 40 kilos ago. See item 11.
32. I drive a manual (stick-shift) car. I freaked out the first time I had to drive an automatic.
33. My BFF is a thirty-something Sri Lankan woman living in Toronto.
34. The first time I truly experienced heartache was when my Grandfather passed away.
35. I don’t do mornings.
36. I can’t drive without the stereo on.
37. My right armpit perspires more than my left. Seriously.
38. I limit myself to one can of diet coke per day.
39. I can’t stand hip-hop or rap. Word.
40. I'm pretty sure I could live on Parisian macarons.
41. I can’t stop buying entertaining items even though we live in a tiny apartment with no room to entertain.
42. I first got on a plane at age 16 for a school trip to Malaysia.
43. I went to a private school.
44. I have never lived overseas.
45. I love accents. I want to live overseas so that I can have one.
46. I enjoy big cities. I love Sydney, London, Berlin, and Paris. New York is next.
47. I failed high school chemistry.
48. My only food dislikes are aniseed and ginger. This means I eat pretty much EVERYTHING. See item 11.
49. My whole name contains five separate words.
50. I stopped biting my nails at 13. Now they’re one of my best features.
51. I have no tolerance for stupidity. I can’t stand people who lack common sense.
52. I have had root canal surgery once. It was not fun.
53. I have a metal plate in my ankle, courtesy of a bad break. It sets off metal detectors.
54. I don’t wear shoes when at home. I wear incredibly ill-fitting shoes when not at home.
55. I am a 6th generation Australian and also the daughter of a migrant.
56. In a perfect world I would speak fluent French, German and Spanish. In reality I struggle with English.
57. I once broke a bone in my little toe when I kicked a chair while running to answer the phone.
58. I think hot chocolate is great. I think white hot chocolate is better. See item 11.
59. I am currently struggling with an IKEA addiction.
60. I feel uncomfortable using the word ‘moist’... in any context.
61. I have a fear of heights which intensifies when looking down over edges.
62. I hardly ever pay retail. This started because I often couldn’t afford to. Now I often refuse to.
63. I am currently enrolled in my third university degree.
64. I can’t ice-skate, ski or rollerblade. Balance isn’t my thing.
65. I love magazines. Food magazines, design magazines, wedding magazines. I just can't walk past the gorgeous photography.
66. I was Dux of my primary school.
67. I am a neat freak. Mess stimulates negative emotions for me.
68. I was born 2 weeks before my due date. So was my sister.
69. I can’t get enough of 80s music. Its so bad its good.
70. I’m a veteran house and pet-sitter.
71. I love books. I hope to one day have a library in my house.

73. I am a crier. I cry at the movies, listening to songs, watching TV or reading books.
74. I have a very poor sense of direction but I’m great with a map.

77. I’m a fan of British comedy. They simply do it better.
78. I can’t stand spelling mistakes or SMS shorthand. CU L8TER? Hell no.

80. I love colour. To the point that I really don't have a favourite.
81. I really like the smell of popcorn. I’m not that keen on eating it.
82. Throughout my teens and early 20s I was addicted to chupa chups.
83. I do an awesome Afrikaner accent.

85. I hate cork wedge shoes. I think they make all women look like street walkers.
86. I have never lived more than 30 minutes from the coast.
87. I love perfumes, lotions, soaps etc. that smell like food… citrus… vanilla… green tea… you name it!
88. I think the word ‘panties’ is hilarious.
89. If I could eat an avocado every day I would.
90. I’d like to have kids in the not-too-distant future. I’m planning on two and a spare.
91. I love ‘The Bold and The Beautiful’. Enough said.
92. I only wear ‘white’ metals - silver, white gold, platinum.
93. When I am stressed I do one of three things: clean, paint my nails, bake.
94. I ‘see’ words. As a result I have distinct preferences for certain spellings e.g. I much prefer Katerina to Katarina
95. I can’t stand cigarette smoke. It’s utterly repulsive.
96. I love 70s Disco and I don’t care what anyone says. It’s boogie-licious.
97. I am a wine whore. I like red and white, sweet and dry, fortifieds and stickies.
98. I collect seashells.
99. My favourite breakfast is eggs Benedict… with a latté if possible.
100. I like my tea/coffee white with one.
